TADFF 2007 - PRINT TRAFFIC INSTRUCTIONS

Congratulations once again for having your film accepted for screening at the 2007 Annual Toronto After Dark Film Festival (TADFF) this October 19-25, 2007. Please now follow the following steps for ensuring the safe and speedy delivery of your film print for exhibition at the festival.

STEP 1: If you are the filmmaker/ distributor/ producer/ representative of the film and have not already done so, please complete the TADFF Print Tracking & Festival Invitation Acceptance Form here. This will help us to keep track of your film, know where it is coming from, where it is going to and who to contact should we have any queries. Otherwise / then please move to Step 2 below.

STEP 2: Have your film shipped to TADFF as soon as possible. Your film, unless otherwise agreed, should arrive no later than seven days before the festival begins i.e. by October 12, 2007 at the latest.  TADFF strongly recommends using FEDEX courier for shipment of prints, if at all possible. PLEASE NOTE: The Festival will NOT accept international shipments via United Parcel Service (UPS), including USA to CANADA since this company does not deliver international duty-free shipments to Toronto.

INFORMATION & ITEMS TO INCLUDE IN YOUR SHIPMENT PACKAGE:

  • NON ENGLISH-LANGUAGE FILM: please double-check before sending:exhibition print must have English subtitles.
  • ONE BACK-UP EXHIBITION DVD include with your regular exhibition package (Region 1 or Region-free/R0).  However if you are sending a film print or DIGIBETA/BETA for exhibition but it will not arrive until after October 12, please ship a exhibition-quality DVD (i.e. NOT low resolution or watermarked) separately to TADFF to arrive before Oct. 12.
  • NOTE ON DVDS: If sending a computer-burned DVD, please test it on several makes and models of players before submitting, and ideally include a back-up copy. Unless otherwise agreed, in order to reduce costs, DVDs will not be returned.
  • U.S. & INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: U.S. & International submission packages should include all applicable labels, commercial invoices, customs declarations and waybills, for entering Canada
  • SHIPMENT VALUATION: Insert $50 CANADIAN AS THE VALUE FOR FILM PRINTS, AND $15 CANADIAN FOR DIGIBETA/BETA TAPES OR DVDs. And add these two words, after the value, as follows:  GOODS RETURNING
  • DETAILS TO INCLUDE: Title of film, film format, and Running time of film, country of manufacture. Please also mark on form, that the customs broker is: RUSSELL A FARROW LIMITED
  • Include the following Declaration:
    GOODS ON LOAN FOR CULTURAL FESTIVAL/EVENT.  TO BE RETURNED TO COUNTRY / PLACE OF ORIGIN.  NO COMMERCIAL VALUE.  NON-PORNOGRAPHIC.
  • SEND MULTIPLE COPIES OF THE COMMERCIAL INVOICE: Include at least 3 copies of any commercial invoice with the courier waybill.  And please make sure that if there are separate packages which are in the same shipment, they are all clearly labeled with the title of the film, the senders address and the our receiving address above. Also please make sure that an additional copy of the way bill and the commercial invoice are inserted into each separate package.

    STEP 3: NOTIFY TADFF ONCE YOUR FILM HAS SHIPPED:  On the date of of your film shipment, please e-mail the tracking number and the number of pieces in the shipment to: contact Niall Kirwan, TADFF Print Traffic Manager at: or call Niall at: 647-500-6274.     STEP 4:  RETURN DATE FROM THE FESTIVAL - Film prints & tapes will be shipped back from the Festival, as soon as is possible following their screening. If your film print will be needed urgently after TADFF (Oct. 19-25, 2007) at another screening elsewhere, please notify Niall Kirwan, our festival print traffic manager as soon as possible at so expedited shipping can be arranged.
