SYNOPSIS
Jo Beom-Jin’s debut animated feature AACHI AND SSIPAK is a raucous and riotously rude piece of work, a film that delights in every bit of violence and potty humor.
The near future. Oils wells have run dry. Nuclear power? Don’t even think about it. Wind and solar? Turns out the naysayers were right and it’s not much good for anything. Civilization is in grave danger. Everything will grind to a halt without a new fuel source. The solution? Human feces. Our heroes, the titular Aachi and Ssipak, are nothing more than thugs eking out a living as petty drug dealers, until they steal the narcotic popsicles the government distributes as rewards to those who make sizable “deposits” to the energy fund.
While plotting to sell the frozen goods to popsicle addicts, and trying to get laid, they must fight off not only a government-issue cyborg but also the vicious Diaper Gang, a swarm of diminutive mutant popsicle addicts. Don’t bother looking for a deeper meaning to AACHI AND SSIPAK, just go with the flow.
