“Recommended for people itching for a good scare” –A Nutshell Review
NEW: REVIEWS FROM TORONTO AFTER DARK 2007
Is there a closer bond than the one between sisters? Perhaps if those sisters are conjoined twins… But the closest relationships are also the ones that can turn on us the worst. This fact is painfully obvious to Pim, a young Thai woman plagued by visions of her sister Ploy, a conjoined twin who didn’t survive the attempt to separate the pair, a procedure Pim insisted on.
If ALONE casts early doubts as to whether Pim’s visions are supernatural or purely the product of her own guilty conscience those suspicions are soon erased as Ploy becomes more forceful in her appearances, and more violent. It seems the dead sister is bent on blood.
Expectations are running high for this new Thai horror film. Not only is ALONE the latest from the directing duo behind SHUTTER – the film that sparked the current wave of Thai horror – but the pair actually shut down production on a pair of solo projects they had in development so that they could reunite on this picture. Was it worth it? Absolutely. ALONE is the finest Thai horror picture to emerge since their debut – a perfect blend of style, smarts, and expectations both met and subverted.
