SYNOPSIS

If you’re walking down the street and you find an invitation to an exclusive and mysterious Halloween party taking place across town, in the warehouse district, the last thing you should do is show up. That’s the lesson learned the hard way by lonely nerd Chris, who makes the mistake of his life when he decides to live a little on Halloween night and ends up the unwitting guest of honour at a slaughter soiree, in Jeremy Saulnier’s blood-soaked black comedy MURDER PARTY.

Clad in a ridiculous homemade knight’s costume, he’s tied up and tortured by a group of pretentious drug-addled NYC art students intent on turning his death into an art project. As the wannabe Warhols get more wasted and the power tools come out, though, they suffer a series of accidents and start turning on each other, culminating in a bloodbath that quite literally skewers and shreds the pretentious New York art scene.

The dialogue and performances are as sharp as the weapons here, making for a perfect mix of comedic bickering and blunt trauma. Imagine torture porn meets WAITING FOR GUFFMAN with a mad dash of FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS and you’ve got MURDER PARTY.
