SYNOPSIS
Simon says get set for a bloody good time! Writer-director William Dear is probably best known to fans for his family-friendly fare such as HARRY AND THE HENDERSENS. But he’s always apparently wanted to do a horror film. And if this outrageously gory and fun feature, starring cult icon Crispin Glover as a pair of psychotic twins, is anything to go by, Dear may have a whole new career ahead of him.
SIMON SAYS delivers a classic slasher-horror set-up: a group of college students looking for an idyllic campsite in the woods for their weekend break, end up stumbling upon an isolated town. They anger a creepy local store-owner Stanley and his mentally challenged twin Simon, before heading off to camp down for the night. But it’s not long before one by one the youths find themselves being hunted down by the deranged twins and killed in increasingly gory ways.
Glover’s scene-stealing double act as a twisted pair of killers will delight fans of the eccentric actor. Meanwhile gore-hounds can look forward to some of the best kills this writer has ever seen put to cinema. Just watch out for the flying pickaxes!
–Adam Lopez
