WELCOME TO TORONTO AFTER DARK!

Toronto After Dark Film Festival is one of the world’s leading showcases of thrilling cinema. The critically acclaimed annual festival, now in its fourth year, screens new horror, sci-fi, fantasy, action, animated and cult films from around the world, including many award-winning features and shorts. Last year’s festival was attended by a record 8,500 enthusiastic film fans and over 100 members of press and industry. In a poll of local filmgoers, Toronto After Dark was also voted Runner-Up for Best Film Festival in the City. We invite you to join thousands of film fans in Toronto this summer, August 14-21, 2009 at Toronto’s legendary Bloor Cinema, for eight unforgettable nights of cinematic mayhem!

OUTSTANDING MEDIA COVERAGE

Every year Toronto After Dark Film Festival also sets new records for the outstanding media coverage we generate for the films that screen with us. Last year for example, the festival and its film program were featured in more than 100 media outlets across Television, Print, Radio and the Web including Ain’t It Cool News, Bloody-Disgusting, CityTV, ComingSoon.net, Fangoria, The Globe and Mail, Inside Entertainment, Joblo.com, NOW, Rue Morgue Magazine, Toronto Star, Twitch and dozens more.  The SPACE Channel also aired an excellent short featurette that profiled our film program which you can watch below:


RESPECTED BY THE FILM INDUSTRY

As well as being a huge champion of independent genre films at our festival, during the rest of the year Toronto After Dark also promotes new genre films being released by major distibutors in the city.  Some of the high profile film companies we have teamed up with on releases include: Alliance, Anchor Bay, Dimension, E1, Fox, IFC, Lionsgate, Magnolia, Maple, Mongrel, Sony, Starz, Universal and Warner Brothers. We are especially proud of the terrific success stories we have had where independently-produced films which premiered at our festival have gone on to receive theatrical and video releases from major distributors.


OUR MISSION

Toronto After Dark Film Festival theatrically showcases new, innovative, independent and international thrilling films in front of local audiences that would otherwise rarely get the chance to see these movies on the Big Screen. A HUGE SOCIAL EVENT

Toronto After Dark also brings thousands of film fans together during the festival to meet up outside of our screenings.  We host packed nightly social events including our popular gala parties and pub social nights.

We regret that Festival Screenings are Restricted by Ontario Provincial Law to Adults Aged 18 Years And Older. Festival parties and pub nights restricted to 19+.
