The Buzz

“All About Evil is the perfect movie for this fest. Its hero is a horror fan, it’s set in a theatre much like the Bloor and it centres on a young woman whose act of murder leads to artistic liberation and celebrity status. Laughs and gore abound. Natasha Lyonne is big fun as homicidal Deborah and gets stellar support.” - NOW Magazine, Advance Review

“Not only is All About Evil a fun and ultimately rewarding film, but it is also a definite must to enjoy in the company of others” - Killer Reviews

“Over the top, outlandish…hilarious and charming…All About Evil demands to be seen with a large audience of horror fiends, camp aficionados and other like-minded maniacs.”  - Geekscape

“From the opening credits (which we loved!)....very much a throwback to some of the campy horror films that paved the way to today’s standards - Killer Reviews

Official Selection - Los Angeles Film Festival

Synopsis

Deborah Tennis (Natasha Lyonne of SLUMS OF BEVERLY HILLS and FREEWAY II) has always wanted to be a star, but instead is a frumpy librarian who inherits her father’s failing rep cinema, The Victoria in San Francisco. When her evil stepmother attempts to force Deborah into signing away the lease on the theatre, the young woman snaps, and commits a vicious murder, captured on the lobby’s security camera and projected onto the big screen. The small but loyal crowd believe the footage to be a “gore worthy” short film and it becomes a hit! Hungry to become a famous “directress,” Deborah and her crew of nefarious
psycho-misfits begin to make more short films by finding clueless audience members including Deborah’s co-worker blabber-mouth Evelyn (Mink Stole of FEMALE TROUBLE, SERIAL MOM), who are literally DYING in her cinematic creations.  Co-starring Noah Segan (DEADGIRL, SOMEONE’S KNOCKING AT THE DOOR), Thomas Dekker (TERMINATOR: SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES) and Cassandra Peterson aka “Elvira, Mistress of the Dark,” ALL ABOUT EVIL is a campy love letter to low budget indie horror and the lost art of the movie going experience. Director Joshua Grannell, better known as his drag alter ego PEACHES CHRIST, has crafted a bloody, corny, and utterly charming Grand Guignol that feels right at home at our own beloved rep house, The Bloor Cinema.
- Steven Landry
