“One of Toronto’s Must-See Events!”
WELCOME TO TORONTO AFTER DARK FILM FESTIVAL!
Toronto After Dark Film Festival is one of the world’s leading showcases of new horror, sci-fi, action and cult films. Entering its 7th Year in 2012, the critically acclaimed annual event spotlights thrilling new feature films and shorts from around the world. The 2011 festival was attended by a record over 10,000 enthusiastic film fans and over 100 members of press and industry, resulting in an unprecedented over 350 published reviews for its feature film selections, and a number of distribution deals for filmmakers. In a poll of local filmgoers, Toronto After Dark was also voted Runner-Up for Best Film Festival in the City. Following last year’s record-breaking success, for its next edition, Toronto After Dark maintains its fixture in the Halloween Season but expands to a record nine thrilling nights, October 18-26, 2012!
Toronto After Dark Film Festival’s main goal is to theatrically showcase new, innovative, independent and international horror, sci-fi, action and cult films in front of local audiences that would otherwise rarely get the chance to see these movies on the Big Screen. A secondary goal of the festival is to host events around our screenings that allow festivalgoers and filmmakers to socialize in an accessible and relaxed setting. Our audiences are typically ecstatic with the results we deliver, and you can read what filmmakers have to say about us here.
To get a good idea of what Toronto After Dark is all about, we suggest you take a look at our 2011 festival trailer, featuring clips from a number of the films playing at the last festival:

Please note a correction to one line spoken in the video: Toronto After Dark does indeed program both International and Canadian short films.
A WORLD-CLASS FILM FESTIVAL
Toronto After Dark is a proud member of the prestigious North American Fantastic Film Alliance (NAFFA) which recognizes only the top six world-class genre film festivals out of over 50 on the continent. Our widely respected sister festivals in the alliance include Austin’s Fantastic Fest, Montreal’s Fantasia, Los Angeles’ ScreamFest while in Europe, via NAFFA’s counterpart organization we are affiliated with Spain’s prestigious Sitges fantastic film festival, and London, England’s premier genre cinema event FrightFest. Programming of a film by a NAFFA festival is seen as a badge of quality. Many short and feature films which screen at Toronto After Dark are also amongst the selections of other world-class film events including the Sundance, Cannes, SXSW and Tribeca Film Festivals. Due to its high profile, Toronto After Dark is also one of only a handful of genre film festivals in the world that is covered by the leading film industry trade press outlets Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
WORKING WITH THE LOCAL FILM COMMUNITY
Year round, Toronto After Dark Film Festival, also promotes the city’s vibrant horror, cult and alternative film scene to close to 20,000 followers on email, facebook and twitter.
