Mike (Michael McKiddy) is not having a great day. On top of waking up in a laboratory on wheels with a mild case of amnesia, it turns out that the world has been overrun by the shambling, mindless, flesh hungry living dead. Oh, and also, Mike appears to be dead as well, just not ‘as dead’ as everyone else. He is soon brought up to speed by Brent (Ross Kidder), who shares his condition, if not his common sense. There is one thing Mike does remember though, the girlfriend (Natalie Victoria) he had wanted to propose to. DEADHEADS decides to give the undead a little more respect than usual, by having them be the heroes, traveling cross country on a quest for love. Very aware of it’s influences (Romero, Wright), the film succeeds in balancing it’s situational comedy with a healthy dose of zombie carnage. Mike and Brent are the odd couple of the undead apocalypse, their chemistry propels the film forward through one crazy encounter after another. Will true love prevail? Will Mike’s arm stop falling off? And why is the government chasing them? Follow the DEADHEADS to find the answers!
- Steven Landry
