April, 25, 2012 - For Immediate Release:
TORONTO AFTER DARK RETURNS TO BLOOR CINEMA FOR OCT 18-26, 2012 FEST!
Toronto After Dark Film Festival, the city’s premier showcase of new horror, sci-fi, action and cult movies, is thrilled to announce today its screening venue for its 7th Annual edition, which runs this October 18-26, 2012. The festival is delighted return to its original home, The Bloor Cinema at 506 Bloor Street West, Toronto’s legendary hundred-year old movie theatre, beloved by film fans and filmmakers the world over, including Quentin Tarantino and Edgar Wright.
As fans may recall, for the first time in six years, Toronto After Dark moved from The Bloor for its festival last year, due the venue’s closure for much-needed renovations. The great news for film lovers is that the theatre, now reopened under the careful management of the critically acclaimed Hot Docs festival and its partners, has benefited from a massive upgrade, including the addition of state-of-the-art projection and sound. Festivalgoers will also appreciate the venue’s ideal location, right on Toronto’s Subway Line at Bathurst Station, and its close proximity to the many popular shops, restaurants and bars of the city’s Annex area for enjoyment between screenings.
TWO ADDITIONAL ‘SPOTLIGHT PRESENTATION’ SCREENING NIGHTS ADDED: JUNE 27, JULY 11.
An exciting new addition to Toronto After Dark Film Festival this year, will be two additional Spotlight Presentation Screening Nights this Summer taking place also at The Bloor on Wednesday, June 27 and Wednesday, July 11. Through the Spotlights, Toronto After Dark will be able to showcase more great genre films, earlier than ever this year for fans, but still deliver the same festival quality and experience they’ve come to expect from the main October event. Festival Director and Founder Adam Lopez adds: “Our Spotlight Nights are going to be a real treat for fans! Almost like mini-Toronto After Dark Film Festivals, each night you’ll get two see two amazing new feature films and some fantastic shorts, and then go to an after-screening social event, where you can chat about the films with other fans, bloggers and filmmakers! And all this included in the price of the ticket.” More details on the Spotlight Screenings will be announced in May, at the festival website, http://www.torontoafterdark.com , when it relaunches for Toronto After Dark’s 2012 edition. For now fans are encouraged to mark the dates, June 27 and July 11 in their calendars and look forward to two more thrilling nights of cinema at the The Bloor this Summer!
PROUDLY SUPPORTING TORONTO’S EXTENDED GENRE FILM EVENT COMMUNITY
“While Toronto After Dark’s venue may be different this year, we never forget that our fans are interested in horror, sci-fi, action and cult movie events, wherever they may be taking place,” adds Lopez. “We’re all part of a close-knit film fanatic community and keeping fans united, has always been my goal. Fans can rest assured that Toronto After Dark will continue to highlight exciting genre screenings year round, as it always has, regardless of which venue or festival is hosting them.” To get periodic updates on the festival, as well as other thrilling film events in the city, and chances to take part in our exciting movie ticket giveaways, be sure to subscribe to the festival’s update lists here:
