AWARD WINNERS Announced for Toronto After Dark 2014!  DEAD SNOW 2 and THE BABADOOK Win Big! (2014)

NOVEMBER 2, 2014: Toronto After Dark Film Festival is thrilled to announce the Award Winners of its 9th Annual Edition. As is tradition at Toronto After Dark, the Jury were the fans themselves with a record over 4,600 votes cast this year by festival-goers to determine the best new horror, sci-fi, action and cult movies from the around the world!

Tommy Wirkola’s crowd-pleasing zombie action comedy sequel, DEAD SNOW 2: RED VS DEAD, was the big winner taking the festival’s Top Prize, the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Film, GOLD. SILVER went to, PREDESTINATIONthe Spierig Brothers time-twisting sci-fi thriller starring Ethan Hawke. WHY HORROR?, a fascinating documentary that explores horror fandom snagged the BRONZE.

In the Specialty Categories, the biggest winner was scary supernatural horror, THE BABADOOK, which won 5 Awards including, BEST DIRECTOR, BEST ACTRESS and SCARIEST FILM. Horror-comedy, HOUSEBOUND, also scored well with fans, taking three major awards with, BEST HORROR FILM, BEST COMEDY and BEST ENSEMBLE CAST while, PREDESTINATION, added to its awards tally winning BEST SCI-FI and BEST SCREENPLAY.

Toronto After Dark fans also bestowed awards to a number of other films in different categories screening at the festival including additional Feature Films, Short Films and the Festival Bumpers. Read on for the complete list of winners from Toronto After Dark 2014:
