Toronto After Dark’s 2014 Call for Film Entries final deadline has now passed, and we would like to thank a record over 850 filmmakers from around the world who chose to submit their works for programming consideration by our festival this year. All films are now being reviewed. If you submitted a film to Toronto After Dark 2014 and waiting for an update from us, or are interested in submitting to our event next year, please check our Submissions Page for key info and dates. All titles will be announced by the end of September, 2014.

DECEMBER 10, 2013: That’s a Wrap! Toronto After Dark Film Festival wrapped up its thrilling 8th Annual showcase of new Horror, Sci-Fi, Action and Cult Movies at its exciting new venue, the Scotiabank Theatre, with over 10,000 enthusiastic attendees taking in screenings and events over nine amazing nights, Oct 17-25 , in the heart of downtown Toronto, Canada!
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED ZOMBIE NIGHT, BIG FOOT ON STAGE, A MONSTERIFIC NEW FESTIVAL TEE, THE FESTIVAL’S FIRST MASCOT AND 8 FUN BUMPERS FROM FESTIVAL ALUMNI!
Highlights of Toronto After Dark 2013 included numerous sell out screenings, including Festival Opener the Cannes and Sundance hit horror sensation, WE ARE WHAT WE ARE, lots of zombie-themed fun at the theatre for the festival’s ever-popular Zombie Appreciation Night, Big Foot on stage with filmmaker Bobcat Goldthwaite for WILLOW CREEK, a fantastic new exclusive KING KONG inspired Festival t-shirt design from award-winning artist Ghoulish Gary Pullin, the festival’s first-ever Mascot TADDY Bear, given away to a lucky fan after the fest, plus some Fun 8th Anniversary Bumpers played in front of all the films, made by festival alumni filmmakers!

ZOMBIE MOVIE, THE BATTERY, AND FLY REVENGE FILM, EEGA, THE BIGGEST AWARD WINNERS!
Post-apocalyptic indie zombie road trip movie THE BATTERY may have had a small budget but it won audiences over big time at Toronto After Dark 2013 to win the festival’s Top Prize, the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Film, GOLD. In the Specialty Categories, THE BATTERY also scored wins for BEST SCREENPLAY, BEST MUSIC and BEST POSTER. But the biggest specialty winner was Indian housefly revenge movie EEGA which was left buzzing after winning a festival record 9 Awards from fans including BEST ACTION, BEST COMEDY and MOST ORIGINAL FILM. MASSIVE PRESS COVERAGE & INDUSTRY DEALS!
Films screening at Toronto After Dark 2013 also benefited from the over 100 press and industry representatives in attendance. The result was a staggering 300-plus published reviews and editorial pieces for our 19 feature films and 28 short films, and the festival overall. Even more importantly for our selected filmmakers, multiple sales deals to distributors occurred around and during the festival itself!
